Welcome to Kasia's Foodblog!

I'm a polish expat in Norway and I love making
all kinds of food. I use recipes as guides but mostly
make things by gut feeling. This blog is mainly meant
for me to remember how and what I make so I can
recreate it later. Also my best friend love my food
and has been harassing me to make a blog so he can
see all I'm making when he's not there. He's the best.

I MADE THE FOOD

So i had a craving for sushi the other day.

As you will see it's easy and amazingly good!

I cooked sushi rice following the instructions on the pack, plus sugar and rice vinegar.

Chopped some avocados, cucumber, salmon and crabsticks (from REMA).

Using the seaweed sushi wrappers (nori) i put rice on it and  a bit of avocado, cucumber and salmon before I rolled them.

For the ones without nori I sprinkled sesame seeds, lay down a sheet of rice and added avocado, cucumber and crabstick before rolling.

It's super easy to make, and you can experiment with what you have inside the sushi rolls. Use whatever fresh fish you've got, or scampi\shrimp. There's also lots of vegetables\fruits that are perfect for sushi. You can use strawberry or mango or even melon.

There's a lot of different sauces you can use for dipping, but most are soy-based. If you have access to wasabi then the basic sushi sauce is as follows:

1 part wasabi (about the size of your fingernail)
1\2 cup soy sauce

that easy!

Also I recommend you use sliced pickled ginger as a palate-cleanser that you eat between the different kinds of sushi so your tastebuds are "reset" between different tastes.

Enjoy =)
